DescriptionContains the following: - A section of a handwritten draft copy of a script for [the stage play?] "William Goes to the Circus"; draft copy made c1940s-c1950s. - Notebooks containing ideas for and draft copies of sections of William stories, including "Good Old Days" ["William and the Good Old Days"] and other unnamed stories, c1960s. - Handwritten poems titled "re Finnegans Wake - by James Joyce" and "V.3 to Richmal", c1960s. - Handwritten notes describing a dream, c1960s. - Handwritten notes on scraps of paper, containing ideas for William stories, as well as some other notes and memoranda, c1950s-c1960s. Some of the items used for scrap paper include: - Letters to RC Lamburn [Richmal Crompton Lamburn, also known as Richmal Crompton] from AP Watt and Son, London, [literary agents], including discussion of the publishing of "William and the Space Animal" and "William's Television Show" in Portugal; letters dated 1966 and 1968. - A section of minutes for a meeting of the CCCC [Central Committee for the Care of Cripples], c1950s. - Accounts for royalties to be paid by George Newnes Limited, London, publishers, c1966. - A page of an annotated, typed draft of a William story [name of the story not stated], c1960s. - A letter to [Richmal] Crompton from a fan (aged around nine years old); letter written c1960s.
