DescriptionThe file contains correspondence, dated 1969-2003, sent to Richmal Ashbee [niece of Richmal Crompton] from fans of Richmal Crompton's work. The correspondence has mostly been sent from people in the UK, but also includes letters from Spain, Sierra Leone and India. The file also contains the following: - A letter to Richmal Crompton Lamburn [also known as Richmal Crompton] from a fan in Spain, including illustrations by the fan, (this letter is written in Spanish, but a translation in English is enclosed); letter written in 1957; translation written in c1957. - A St Patrick's day greetings card sent to Richmal Crompton from [a fan?]; card written in c1960s. (The card appears to have originally included a shamrock [the shamrock is not present in the file].) - A letter [recipient's name not stated] from the husband of a former pupil of Miss Lamburn [Richmal Crompton Lamburn, also known as Richmal Crompton]; letter dated 1987. - A note containing contact details [for a fan?]; note titled "William Day 2002"; note written in c2002. - Press cuttings containing the following articles: "When We Were 10: Terry Pratchett was Inspired by the Just William Books" by Terry Pratchett (article published in the "Saturday Telegraph", 4 October 2003); "Freedom of Just William" by Ann Youd (article published 4 May 2004 [name of publication not stated]); and a review of the [radio programme] "Just William At Large" read by Martin Jarvis [reviewer's name not stated] (review published in the EDP [full name not stated], 28 July 2003).
