| Description | The file contains correspondence, dated 1969-1985, sent to Richmal Ashbee [niece of Richmal Crompton] from fans, collectors, readers, viewers and listeners of Richmal Crompton's work. The correspondence has mostly been sent from people in the UK, but also includes letters from Sierra Leone and Spain.

- A letter to [Richmal] Ashbee from a friend of Richmal [Richmal Crompton], enclosing a black and white photograph of an illustration by Thomas Henry of [Richmal Crompton's character] William as a sailor; letter dated 1969; the illustration was drawn in the mid-20th Century and the photograph was taken in c1969.
- A letter sent to Hamlyn Publishing Group from a fan of Thomas Henry (illustrator of [Richmal Crompton's] William books); letter dated 1975.
- A letter to [Richmal] Ashbee from a former pupil of Richmal Crompton Lamburn [also known as Richmal Crompton] at Bromley High School; letter dated 1976.
- A letter, dated 1979, to Richmal Ashbee from AP Watt Ltd., London, literary agents, about a letter received by AP Watt Ltd. from a fan of [Richmal Crompton].
- A letter, dated 1984, to Richmal Ashbee from "The Times" about [Richmal Crompton's] William stories and about letters "The Times" had received from fans of the William stories. |
