Description | This series consists of correspondence, essays and financial documents. It includes some information about award recipients, but does not include a list of awardees. "When Dr. Claude Montefiore, a great benefactor to the Froebel Institute, died in 1938, money was subscribed by friends of the college and old students as a memorial to him. The money thus raised was first used to support a Jewish refugee student following a course of study at the Froebel Institute. When support of the refugees was no longer necessary, the Michaelis Guild decided that the resideu of the fund should in future be used for an essay prize of ten pounds to be awarded annually." |
