Some of the articles are cuttings (dated c1980s-1999), and some of the articles are photocopies (with the originals dated 1971-2001 and the photocopies made c1971-c2001). Some of the articles include covering letters from Macmillan Children's Books, London, [publishers], AP Watt Ltd, London, [literary agents], the "Sunday Express", and the "Morning Telegraph"; covering letters dated 1971-c1993. The file also contains the following: - Cuttings from the "Daily Mail" containing the following William stories by Richmal Crompton: "The Outlaws Fetch the Holly" (published 26 December 1994); "William and the Cow" (published 27 December 1994); "The New Game" (published 28 December 1994); "William and the Smuggler" (published 29 December 1994); and "William is Hypnotised" (published 30 December 1994). - A letter [to Richmal Ashbee? niece of Richmal Crompton] from Macmillan Children's Books, London, publishers, about "Bookshelf" [an article or programme that discussed the William stories?] and Macmillan's "Outlaws Club"; letter dated 1985. - Annotated photocopies of adverts for a shop called William Tailoring, which appears to have based its logo on Richmal Crompton's William; adverts created in c1986; photocopies created and annotated in c1986. - A cutting from the "Eastern Daily Press", 10 October 1988, containing an article about Prince William acting as a page boy at the wedding of Camilla Dunne and Rupert Soames; the article has been annotated in c1988 with the words: "William + White Satin (?)" - An advertising leaflet (created in c1996), a programme (created in c1996), and photocopies of published reviews (published in 1996-1997 and photocopied in c1996-c1997) for a biographical play about Richmal Crompton titled "The Just William Lady" by Alison Neil and performed at the Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks, Kent, and at the Phoenix Arts Centre, Bordon, [Hampshire]. Included are covering letters that were sent with some of these documents to Richmal [Richmal Ashbee, niece of Richmal Crompton] from Dennis Drinkwater; covering letters dated 1996. - A cutting from the "Times", 19 July 1997, containing an obituary for Bill Lofts, researcher of children's literature. - A photocopy of the article "The Real Jennings is [Unmasked]" by Glen Owen and Richard Duce, about the Jennings stories by Anthony Buckeridge [the publication this article came from isn't stated]; article published in c1999 and photocopy made in c1999.
